7 Steps to Improve Performance
I’ve been interested in resources that improve performance, both personal and business. And so the universe has been sending many to me.
The message is: To experience consistent growth, you need to leverage your past experience… meaning, identify the lessons learned from your past mistakes and the knowledge gained from your accomplishments.
Here are 7 Steps in this review, analyze and learn approach.
- Step 1- Identify Your Three Greatest Accomplishments In 2009
No matter how tough 2009 was, you can find something you are proud of.
- Step 2- Analyze What You Learned from Each Accomplishment
What did you learn or what were you reminded of by each?
- Step 3- Identify Your Biggest Disappointments Of 2009
Many of us resist analyzing our mistakes but don’t. This is where the best learning comes from.
- Step 4- Analyze What You Learned from Each Disappointment or Challenge
We all make mistakes. The secret is to analyze them. What could you have done differently and how can you prevent them in the future?
- Step 5- Identify How You Limited Yourself and How You Can Choose Differently
What thoughts didn’t serve you? To ensure you don’t limit yourself again, bring these self-defeating thoughts to the surface and ask yourself what new thinking and actions you can take that defy that thinking.
- Step 6- Pragmatically Review the Information You Have Gathered
What are the big takeaways from answering each question? What do you know about yourself or your business that you didn’t realize? What new wisdom will you embrace?
- Step 7- Use This Information to Inspire Yourself in 2010
What new actions will you take that personify your new wisdom? What is one word to honor from 2009? What is one word to dedicate 2010 to?
