A Sweet Recipe for Any Season- Apples & Spice

It does’t have to be autumn to treat yourself to baked apples.

Baked Apples“An apple a day does keep the doctor away,” which is why Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga, recommended eating two baked apples at night to relieve and prevent digestive problems, like constipation.

Apples contain vitamins A, B, C and K as well as folic acid, plus minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium. Plus, apples are a great source of daily fiber and make a great snack on the go!

Here’s an easy-to-make, healthy dessert recipe:

  1. Use organic apples if you can—Romes, Granny Smith and Galas are good for baking. Wash, but don’t peel them.
  2. Core the apples and stuff with raisins (for extra iron), a little ghee or butter, natural sweetener of your choice (optional).
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon, ground nutmeg and cardamom (aids digestion), according to your taste.
  4. Place in a glass dish, cover, bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
