Do you Make these 3 Mistakes with Manifesting Your Goals?

Any day offers a new start to set goals and manifest dreams!

Here’s part of a helpful email I recently received* which shares 3 mistakes frequently made in manifesting.

discouraged_childMistake 1: Thinking You Don’t Have Enough Time for It

How often have you told someone (or yourself) that you don’t have time for something? We only have 24 hours in a day—and you alone decide what you do in those hours.

It seems to be more convenient to say “I don’t have the time” rather than saying “I don’t want to use my time on it.” Can you feel the difference?

In the first phrase, you haven’t taken ownership of your time—someone else has the time.  In the second phrase, you take full responsibility for your time. When you say this, it may upset some people.  In reality, you are just being honest and when you start doing this, you will attract more honest people in your life.

Over time, you will get more comfortable expressing yourself in this way and people will start appreciating your honesty. You will see the rewards.

So, do you have the time? Your dreams will come true if you make the time available to manifest them.

Mistake 2:  You Don’t Like How It Is, Therefore You Try to Change It

You cannot change what you don’t like! Why? Too much of your attention is focused on the problem rather than on the solution.

Start with accepting your current situation. Take full ownership of it. Understand that it is somehow a result of your thoughts and actions, even if you don’t understand why. Forgive yourself and others. We all make mistakes. Making mistakes (and understanding them) is how each of us learns to move on through life. Simply understand that your past and current actions did not lead to the results that you have expected. That’s it—don’t take it too seriously.

Only after you have gained a neutral perspective towards your current solution is it time to take a new approach.

Mistake 3: You Are Discouraged – Therefore You Give Up

You had the best intentions. You put in all your effort and you certainly believed in your goals and dreams. However, nothing really changed. You are frustrated and discouraged. You start to believe that it is not meant to be. Maybe God does not want you to achieve your goals. You start finding all kinds of excuses, why your dreams did not manifest. Finally you give up.

This is the place where dreams vaporize, and where evaporating goals become a part of history that nobody will ever see.

What to do? Hold your intention and reconnect with it at all times. And if your ego gets too involved, don’t try to force it to happen. Rather allow yourself enough time and space to let your intention manifest in its own way and under its own conditions.

Pay attention to the coincidences in your life, as they will show you the way. Acknowledge them, be grateful to what you have and then act on whatever opportunities come up.

There are no unrealistic dreams; there are only unrealistic time frames.

What Does Love Mean?

Amid the yearend emails reminding me that it’s a great time for reflection, contemplation and new intentions, a friend sent me “What Love Means to a Group of 4-8 year olds.”

“How perfect,” I thought, “Our dial-UP yoga** group is just completing their 30 day class, “To Create Loving Relationships.”  What a gift to get back to basics through the eyes of young children with the wisdom of sages.”

Below are their answers…broader and deeper than many could have imagined.

What does love mean?

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.’

Billy – age 4

‘When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.’

Rebecca- age 8

‘Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.’

Karl – age 5

‘Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.’

Chrissy – age 6

‘Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.’

Terri – age 4

‘Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.’

Danny – age 7

‘Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss’

Emily – age 8

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.’

‘If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,’

‘Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.’

‘Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.’

‘During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.  He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.’

‘My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.’

Clare – age 6

‘Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.’

Elaine-age 5

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.’

Chris – age 7

‘Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.’

Mary Ann – age 4

‘I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’

Lauren – age 4

‘When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.’

Karen – age 7

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.’

Mark – age 6

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.’

Jessica – age 8

And the final one.

A four year old child’s next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.  Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, ‘Nothing, I just helped him cry.’
