Laugh with George Carlin
I agree with George Carlin.
I love getting a new shirt. I’m excited to wear it and show it off. The fabric feels soft, the colors are vibrant and I look like a brand new person! I love it, of course, for a little over a month. Then I get sick of it because it becomes “just another” shirt in my closet. After saying, “Ugh; I have no clothes!” I buy another one. This is temporary happiness at its best.
Acquiring new “things” is just a short-lived quick-fix to my state of well being. It makes me happy for a few fleeting moments until it’s no longer novel or appreciated.
What I always appreciate is love and admiration. I also never tire of being with my family or learning something new. These TRUE “things” are what bring actual happiness to me. They warm me from the inside out, causing me to radiate sincere bliss and gratification.
I’ve never found a shirt, dress, car, iPhone, or a new job that does that!
